BH Cosmetics!

BH Cosmetics, a cosmetic brand from North Hollywood, America. I had heard a lot of good things about them on the internet, and thought it was high time I sampled their goods for myself. I had been looking for a new blusher pallet for a while, so now was the perfect time.

You can only buy the products online, so it’s hard to guage what the quality is like, unless you have tested them beforehand. I went out on a bit of a limb and bought a few different things, including:

·         Eyebrow pencils (mechanical) in blonde, light brown, brown, dark brown and black

·         120 eyeshadow pallet (#4)

·         Smokey Eye pallet

·         10 blusher pallet

·         10 concealer pallet

·         Liquid eyeliner

·         Travel brush set

Because they come from overseas, the shipping can be a little excessive, but if you’re buying a fair amount of products, it’s worth it. I spent $111 including shipping. It took approx. 2 weeks to arrive, which I was pretty impressed with. Only 2 of the eyeshadows were broken, but they were easily fixed.

The colour payoff with the eyeshadows isn’t the best, but with a primer they’re amazing. The 120 pallet has shimmers, matts and pearls, which gives you a great mix of possibilities. They’re only small pots of shadow, so it looks like you don’t get much for your money, but because there are so many, and when used with a primer, they go a long way. The smokey eye pallet has a great selection also, with some colours you would never imagine working, but they just do! The smokey eye has both darks and lights, so it’s very versitle. The only thing about the smokey eye pallet is that the lid is a clear plastic lid, which I’ve seen on other pallets, and has a habit of cracking easily.

I’m so in love with the concealer pallet! The formula is delightfully creamy, it doesn’t crease on the skin, and it has so many colour options, it suits most skin tones. I recently took it to a shoot with me, ad used it on both an asain complexion, and a very fair complexion. I have a lot of redness in my cheeks, and can have the odd breakout. With the colours, you can mix them, to suit your needs.

The blusher pallet is very much the same, with so many colour options, it would suit most complexions. The pigment in the blusher is great, so a little goes a long way!

I haven’t used all of the eyebrow pencils yet, but I have used the blonde and black, and I love them. They’re a mechanical pencil, so no worry about sharpening them (A quick wipe with rubbing alcohol suffices in regards to cleaning). They’re an angled tip, so they work perfectly with eyebrows of pretty much any shape or thickness. They also have a great colour payoff, and the formula isn’t too creamy like some, so it doesn’t go on the skin and look shiny.

I’ve only used the liquid liner a few times, so I’m still getting used to the pen style (I currently use Covergirl liquid liner, which is a small pen, only about 2.5” long), and having that longer pen can be a bit tricky to get used to. But it’s a great jet black colour, and when it dries, there is very minimal colour change. The lid clicks on tightly, so there's no worry of the product drying out by accident.

BH Cosmetics have quite a few other products, including eye liner pencils, lip liners, lipsticks, brush cleaners, and plenty of eyeshadows. I highly recommend checking them out! They have a lot of sales and package deals going all the time, so if you time it right, you can grab yourself a bargain!

Style Of An Era Long Past

Hello my gorgeous guys and gals!

Time for a quick update on my life recently.

My friend Dan, is a model, and she and I are working on some looks for a shoot we're doing in July. We've been asked to choose a fashion decade and theme our styling on it.

Dan embodies the look of the classic Pin Up, and it's our favourite to do, so it was the clear winner. Just wanted to share what we've been working on. At the moment it's just hair, but next week will be make up.

We tried a few different styles. Starting mainly with "Kitten Ears", then adding bits and pieces. We were looking for a basic style that was easy and quick to do, with big results.

After we'd decided on the base style, we simply changed the accessory, or pinned Dan's fringe, or pulled her hair at the back up.

I'm pretty happy with what we've decided on, because it makes my life, as her stylist, SO MUCH EASIER.

Now when I say stylist, keep in mind I just do this for fun. I'm not qualified in anything. I've never been to a class, or had any training.

To the left, you can see a basic updo, with Dan's hair tied up inside the bandanna. This style was made iconic by the "working ladies" sign of the 1950's. We've left the fringe down to soften the look a little.

Here we can see the main style of the whole look. Kitten ears, pinned and curled fringe, curled hair at the back.

Because Dan's hair is so thick, it can take a while to curl, and it has a habit of 'dropping'.

So lots of hairspray is needed here!

 

Another cute bandanna style. This time I decided to use a white bandanna, to contrast with Dan's dark brown hair. I left the kitten ears in, fluffed the curls at the back a little, and folded the bandanna into a working headband style.

I actually wear my hair like this a fair bit, because it's a nice way to leave my hair down, but keep it off my face. I have a Betty Bangs style fringe, so I'll either pull it back and pin it under the bandanna, or I'll blow wave it out.

Okay, so this isn't the prettiest face Dan's pulling, but mainly look at the hair! I've taken the Kitten Ears out, brushed the fringe into the rest of the hair. Because I had hairsprayed the kitten ears, there is a bit of texture in that section of hair, I back combed a little, and smoothed over the top strands. Then I've softly pulled it all back, and slipped the headband on.

It's a very cute style to try yourselves. Simply curl all of your hair, mainly the ends, then brush the top sections, pull it all back, and adorn with your choice of headband

Speaking of make up, I went a little crazy on Tuesday night and spent over $100 at BH cosmetics.... I am so in love with their eyebrow pencils, concealer pallet, blush pallet....actually, pretty much everything! They're having a sale at the moment, so I highly suggest you go and see what it's all about.

So I didn't know what Etsy was until about a year ago, and since then I've been looking almost every night at the amazing things people make and sell.

I never thought I could be one of these brave people that are so crafty, and put their beautiful items up for the world to see and buy. Until tonight.

Tonight I decided to take the plunge and create my own shop. I dabbled with a few different names, and finally decided on CutThroatKitty.

A little morbid I know, but I think it suits me and my style to a T.

I want to craft right now! (it's 11:15pm) I already have ideas on a few more things I want to make, like hair bows, headbands, bags, coin purses etc.

Product Review: Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick #20

Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish #20


When Kate Moss brought out her first collection of lipsticks, I was a little hesitant to try them, and so I missed out. But not this time! Kate Moss has released a new range through Rimmel, Lasting Finish, and I bought them!

There are 11 different shades (that I know of), and I current have 2 in my possession. I've only worn one so far, #20.

#20 is a beautiful vibrant fuchsia pink, it goes on a lot brighter than you'd think. It glides on like silk and feels so glamorous on my lips. The packaging is elegant and stylish, with a lovely matt finish, and Kate's name with a cute little love heart.

I simply adore the colour!

Unfortunately, that's about all I like. The tube isn't sealed, so anyone can open it before you buy it, and you'd never know. It doesn't last nearly as long as I thought it would, even with lip liner (I tried with and without).

Even though it goes on smooth, after a little while it becomes dry and has an unpleasant feel on my lips. I've tried it with clear gloss, and without, and it still doesn't last, nor does it feel/taste any better.

I was really disappointed with this product. All of the hype had me so excited! Only other upside was the price, about $12-$15.
